   Birds Watching is...
 
There are 500 kinds of birds in Korea. However, most of them fly away before close approach of people. So, hiding and furtively looking is needed to watch beautiful birds without astonishing them. Researchers or photographers use camouflages or hiding screens and wait for long time to watch them.

Then, what is birds watching? Civilization and industrialization have made people miss beautiful scenery of nature and watching birds flying freely with colorful wings in nature have become one of the most wished. All of the behavior to watch birds in nature is birds watching.
Now, what should we do to watch birds?
 
  Cautions in Watching Birds
 
In Oct. of 1998, Division of Environment presented ¡®Guide lines for birds watchers¡¯ to induce people engaged in birds watching and research to act properly for safety of birds and preservation of habitats. In particular, it defined the list of endangered wild birds and special protective birds and requested the resident people to pay attention to them.
 
 
 Watch them at a distance of at least 30m with a telescope for a short time.
 Avoid splendid, noticeable and flapping clothes.
 Be careful not to make much noise nor to have your body or belongings such as
     a telescope exposed to birds.
 Install concealment devices for taking picture and researching at a distance from
     the nest.
 Never move artificially nor damage nests, eggs, or chicks for photo or research.
 Don't trespass the birds protection area and the rare birds breeding area during
     period of birds propagation.
 Don't damage surrounding of habitat.
 Don't collect acorns, mountain berries, wild vines, Actinidia, and other seed
     because these are foods of birds.

 Don't feed birds nor throw garbage around bird habitats. This may deteriorate
     natural viability of birds.

    
 If you detected any rare bird or its habitat, you should quickly inform the related
     authority so that proper protective measures are taken.
