Why Migrant Birds come here?

The Cheonsuman(Seosan Site AB) reclaimed land had been formed as a result of the embankment project accomplished in 1984, which have changed the wetlands into this extensively spacious agricultural land (6,400ha).

This change made this site a new rising habitat of wintering birds, but it brought decrease of the number of snipes which had stayed in this wetlands before.

Also, it is thought that deep change in distribution and variety of species had accompanied.

Located at the bottle neck place on the moving line of migrant birds, Cheonsuman is one of the best birding points in Korea where a number of and various kinds of migrant birds can be watched.

Especially, a plenty of fallen grains in large scaled agricultural lands and aquatic plants, fish, reeds, and etc. in freshwater lakes have become important factors of a good habitat for birds.
